Great Depression Article

I honestly do not think that our country will go through another great depression. One reason is because I think we learned from some mistakes, not all, but some from our last depression. Another reason why i think we wont ever go through another great depression is because our "great" depression would be a lot less worse than the last one. We would just basically be downgraded in everything we owned or do. For example, in the article it said "We might see former lawyers wearing knockoffs, doing their back to school shopping at Target or Wal-Mart rather than Banana Republic and Abercrombie & Fitch." I really don't worry about it too much. There would obviously be sacrifices for my mom, brother, and I to make in order to deal with depression. We would cut back on unnecessary things, stop going out as much and eat home, and maybe cut TV and the Internet. If my mom lost her job my brother and I would definitely help out with the bills and food. The world would look the same in 21st century depression according to the author, the depression would be more private than public. I agree with the author.

Simpsons Assignment

Part 1:
The producers did a decent job portraying the 1920's Prohibition in Springfield. I do not think the accuracies outweighed the fictional comedy, but there was an equal number of accuracies and parts of comedy. I definitly enjoyed the episode; it was hilarious. The elements of 1920's life that was portrayed well was Mafia paying off the cops to keep them quiet about the alcohol bootlegging.

Part 2:
If i was to edit a scene, i would edit the one where people enter the speakeasy "Moe's." The producers didn't portray the aspect that getting into a speakeasy was hard. I would put gates out at the front door of the bar and have Homer and Bart as the guards to the bar. This would show how hard it was to get into a speak-easy.

Should true Americans have to give up personal freedoms during a time of war?

Should true Americans have to give up personal freedoms during a time of war?

Yes, I think that true Americans should be willing to sacrifice whatever freedoms they have during a time of war. During every battle or war, we will all face some sort of adversity and have to sacrifice something for our country. Whether it be actually fighting in the war, or having to give up personal freedoms during a time of war. You would not be what they call a "true American" if you were not willing to sacrifice personal freedoms for your country.
